Sorry it's been so long
Usually people write about having nothing to say and that is why the blog sits lonely, with no updates. I, on the other hand, tend to have too much to say and then feel overwhelmed and end up saying nothing.
First, I'll start with my weigh-on from Sunday. 194. I. Can't. Believe. It. I am only one pound heavier than I was when I went off to college 12 years ago at the ripe old age of 17. That puts my BMI in the 'overweight' category. I am no longer obese. Yippee!!! I can almost feel the 180's. Something I haven't seen since my rugby playing days in college. I was in great shape then. I can't believe I am this close.
I have also been basically out of commission because of a pulled muscle. It just happens to be my trapezias (sp.?). You know, the muscle that runs from the middle of your back up your neck and skull. Well, mine is effing killing me. So much so that I had to give in and go to the dr today. But he gave me a few prescriptions and sent me on my way. The other great news is that as he was taking my pulse, he mentioned something about me actively working out (and I hadn't mentioned anything about the weight loss or fitness at that point). I was ecstatic. He said that my resting pulse rate was fantastic and and telltale sign of someone who was in good physical shape. I let him know about what I have been up to and he was really supportive. Talk about the ultimate, unsolicited Validation (with a capital V). So I hope to be back on the workout trail in a few days, but I am not going to push it too soon. I will stick to good eating habits and some extra walking to keep me in check for now.
I got my first real estate listing yesterday too. It is a friend of a friend who needs to rent a place out that he owns. Even though it is just a rental, it will be great experience.
I also am doing a wedding at the beginning of June. I own a little wedding planning company that basically I don't do much with these days, but I got a call from another friend of a friend who really needed the help. So, that may be my final wedding.
Work is crazy as usual, but I am almost certain that it will only be a few weeks until I can transition from my current role (onsite with the client from hell) to more consultative, come and go as I please, less personnel management, etc. This is just what I have been waiting for. This will take some of the pressure and stress off me, give me more flexibility, commute will be a little better and I can work from home a day or two each week, yadda yadda. With the real estate and upcoming adoption, this is EXACTLY what I had been hoping for.
Nothing new on the adoption. I called the SW to check in and she assured me that our profile is great and that we are being shown. But that it just wasn't the perfect fit yet. Like fate had said it wasn't time yet. I told her I don't believe in fate. I really don't. She was flabbergasted, but I wasn't going to lie. It isn't all predetermined. It isn't all planned. This may be interesting enough for me to have another post on the subject. Hmmmm.....
There is more to talk about, but it will have to wait until another day. The muscle relaxer is starting to kick in.
